Simon and Kaylee is one of the two 'Will they? Won't they?' pairings from Firefly. Simon's a young Trauma Surgeon on the run from the government, who've found a safe haven for him and his sister at Serenity. Kaylee's the very young, but extremely talentet ship's mechanic. The two comes from opposite sides of the 'verse and in many ways are very different people, but opposites attract. Simon often struggles with trying to say the right thing to Kaylee, which he often does, but then he messes up and says the wrong thing right afterwards. In the series I first and foremost fell for Kaylee, but Simon eventually crept into the picture and has stayed there ever since. There's a great sweetness between the two. Kaylee tries to get Simon out of his shell, have him play in the muck a little, not trying to change him, just open him up, because she really likes him as the man he is. Simon tries to find the right thing to say to Kaylee, take her someplace nice, show her things he thinks she deserves without changing her, because he too likes her the way she is, especially covered in engine grease.
