First encounter...

I first met Stacey as I was searching for familliar faces at Quor'toth, it was after the Stewards meeting and the Opening ceremony, they had started the autograph session and I knew it would take some time before my number was called. So I bought myself a drink at the bar and I was just standing in the middle of the room looking around when I spotted Stacey. She was standing at the bar, having a drink with her personal assisstant, not wanting to bother her, I didn't do anything. Ok, I stook perhaps a little near her and our eyes met and she said hi.

I said hi back to her, but slightly unfortunate for me an attendee had a question for me as I was a convention Steward, I answered his question the best I could by poiting out where he would most likely get the answers he sought and I turned back to her and we just started talking. I wish I could say I remember what about, but I don't. I only remember some highlights of it, not because it wasn't important, but because the weekend turned out to contain massives of impressions for me.

What I do remember is that Stacey was really friendly with me and I think we started to talk about conventions, as this was her first ever, I think this was what lead to Stacey asking me if I was from around there. I told her the truth that I was from Norway and she got wicked impressed by it, that I had travelled so far to go to these things, ofcourse I told her about how I found the experience worth it. And she also started telling me about someone from her hotel that had just been to Norway and how they experienced it to be very expencive and she asked me about how I experienced coming to the uk, if I thought it to be more expencive or cheaper than home. It was wicked cool that she was so interessted in my country, I'm so not used to people knowing about Norway at all that I'm impressed if people actually have heard about it.

I think this was about the time when Sarah Thompson came over to us, Stacey introduced me for Sarah and told her I was from Norway and Sarah was really impressed and the two of us started talking a bit about tourist attractions and what parts are worth visiting. And then the conversation turned more to be between all of us. Stacey told me that a lot of her friends claimed she looked Norwegian and the assistant said that she at least looked Swedish. I said that she did look scandinavian, seeing as there are no physical difference between the scandinavian people. And then the assistant told us about a Swedish steward that had been phoned by her sister or something and how she had just switched from English to Swedish and they were all astounded that one could flip as easily as that. And I explained it was because we had been taught english since we were kids and that it was just natural for us. And then the big question came from them, whether I dreamt in Norwegian or English. To which the answer was a little bit of both.

I don't remember more of the conversation that day, I remember that someone else who had joined in on the conversation said to Stacey that he thought she looked older in the show and she asked me what I thought, I honestly replied she looked just the way I had expected her to look. Anyway, the conversation ended with Sarah and Stacey thinking of heading for the green room, I said my goodbyes and even though someone else approached them at that time, making them stay put I went to see if I could find my friends.

Next time I saw Stacey was bright and early the very next morning at the photoshoot. It was her and Dennis Christopher and when it was my turn to have my picture taken with them, Stacey told Dennis that I was from Norway... lol.

I was stewarding in both her autograph sessions and the first day I was a bit of the time in the room, so I did talk to her, but only to pass her information I had received from my superiors, I didn't want to be in the way or to you know... kiss up. Anways at the end of the first autograph session us stewards went through and Stacey even had to ask me if I had allready been to see her, lol.

I saw Stacey now and then, either it was in a guesttalk or in the hall. I don't really remember much from other conversations, except that I talked to her about something that was on the Starfury forums when she had been announced. She had told us in the guesttalk that she had gone to the forums to see the reactions when she had been announced as a guest and that it had taught her a lesson to never again check out what people write about her. I feared that my post could have had something to do with it, because at the time she had been announced I hadn't had a clue who she was and I had written something about it. She assured me that it wasn't that, but looking at my post again I can only conclude that she missinterperated my post there. Guess I can't go to a con without having at least one thing to feel ashamed for. But I can say that my post reflected something that had been announced about a con earlier and that, she probably didn't know about that little tidbit of information. But there's nothing I can do about it now anyway.
